Mr. Rish Tutoring is a specialized educational service that focuses on the 'how' of learning for neurodivergent students. We prioritize lifelong success attributes and high-trust rapport over rote academic acceleration.
By blending educational science with mindful patience, we build true student independence. We recognize that learning requires vulnerability, and we meet academic setbacks, confusion, and task avoidance with absolute calm and stability.
Now accepting select student partnerships for the upcoming term. Delivering specialized in-person instruction across the Northwest and North Chicago Suburbs (Arlington Heights, Glenview, Wilmette, and surrounding areas) as well as remote support
Pre-Algebra through Geometry.
I move past rote memorization to build a deep, visual "mathematical mindset," dismantling math anxiety through patience and steady concept building.
Grade-level curriculum support.
I break down complex, abstract scientific principles into highly scaffolded, manageable steps to prevent cognitive overload and build confidence.
Integrated routines.
I don't just teach the material; I weave practical strategies for focus, time management, self-advocacy, and organization directly into every academic session.
Learning requires vulnerability. We prioritize emotional regulation and mutual trust, creating a predictable, non-judgmental space free from the shame of grading cycles. By acting as a supportive mentor rather than a "homework cop," I lower academic anxiety so deep processing can begin.
Grounded in modern cognitive science and mathematical mindset research, I deliberately dismantle the "I'm just not a math/science person" narrative. I focus on the Concrete-Representational-Abstract sequence to make concepts tangible, specifically celebrating incremental breakthroughs and authentic effort over high-stakes perfection.
I actively monitor a student’s cognitive load, fatigue, and stress levels during every session. Instead of forcing a rigid, pre-planned agenda onto an overwhelmed adolescent, I meet the learner exactly where they are that day, adjusting our pacing and scaffolding in real time to build stamina without discouragement.
I teach students to untangle their self-worth from their report cards. By treating grades and mistakes neutrally—as helpful, descriptive data points rather than personal crises—I help young people build the psychological resilience, objectivity, and self-advocacy needed to navigate long-term school challenges independently.
Without you I don't know if I would have made it through high school. Not only have you helped me so much with my academics, you have really been there for me emotionally. You are one of the best role models I have ever had. You are the definition of a genuinely good person and I am so happy I have gotten the chance to have you as my teacher & I feel lucky to know you. I can only hope one day I turn out to be as kind as you.

Thank you so much for the encouragement, teaching, coaching, and skills you gave to XXXXX...it has made a tremendous difference and he would not be where he is today without your efforts and work with him. You are truly gifted at this -- so glad you found your calling.

[They have]...benefitted from the one-on-one time to better break down and understand what they are learning in class. I love the ease of scheduling (option for zoom appointments as well) and easy communication.
